Everything about this hotel speaks to you of the golden age of travel! Nothing like the modern concept of a small room with a bed to sleep in for a couple of nights after working all day in the city. Here you are made to feel welcome, you are cosseted from the time you enter to the time you leave. First impression is great - a huge open lobby with the reception desks in the right and a large semicircular bar at center left with tables all around and a small dining room behind. There's always a buzz there at whatever time you walk in, and the food and drinks are impeccable. The room was very comfortable with a large bed and plenty of space. The bathroom a pleasure and decorated with a traditional vibe that was somehow completely up to date. Room service was fast, though make up service erred on the discreet side when we went out late one morning and came back at the end of the afternoon to find the room untouched. However a call to the front desk rectified this immediately. All in all a great experience that more than made up for the mistake we made by staying for one night in one of those chic modern flophouses I referred to above! The Intercontinental Barclay will definitely be out home from home in New York from now on.

Our room as requested was quiet and on a higher floor, and was unusually spacious particularly by New York standards; the bed was very comfortable, the decor was attractive and bedroom and bathroom quite clean. Located close to Grand Central station (we trained in), it's walkable to many midtown attractions and shopping. The hotel restaurant and bar were a nice way to begin and end the day (respectively! ;), and there were good choices nearby for a variety of levels of dining (the coffee and breakfast sandwich place next door, despite not providing seating currently due to Covid, is a good alternative to the civilized but pricey hotel buffet breakfast). We didn't have much contact with hotel staff, but from Reception and checkout, to housecleaning staff met in the hallways, to the bar and restaurant staff, everyone was friendly, courteous, and connected with us as personally as a very busy holiday scene permits. This hotel is a well-priced, quality option for tourists, business travelers, or locals like us popping into the city for a weekend.

Our corner suite was very comfortable, with a bed that felt luxurious, a nice view, and helpful amenities. The location is convenient to Rockefeller Center, Grand Central and 5th Avenue shopping, but removed from the bustle and noise. What really made my stay at the Barclay stand out was its staff. Everyone I encountered had a level of professionalism that is a rarity at most hotels. I got the sense that the Barclay's staff had worked at the hotel for many years and were very dedicated to their jobs. The housekeepers all greeted my children with delight each time we saw them. The bartenders take their jobs seriously and make unforgettable cocktails. When I returned home from out stay, I discovered I had left behind two necklaces - one a recent gift. I called the hotel and security was holding them for me. The hotel sent them out to me overnight as soon as I called. How rare is it to get back something left behind in a hotel! This experience really confirmed for me how exceptional my stay at the Barclay was.

The property was beautiful and the staff was professional and friendly. Sharon at the front desk was so sweet and made Us feel very welcome from the instant We got there. She gave Us great restaurant recommendations - Toscana49 was awesome and a few doors down! The condition of the hotel property with cleanliness and decor upon walking in made Me feel at ease and comfortable as soon as I walked in. I was a little nervous because Your pricing was so good that I didn't know what to expect regardless of how the pictures looked online but You Guys absolutely exceeded expectations on the property. Very classy. The Parlor Steak, Salmon and drinks were delicious. Food and drinks are expensive on the property but the room rates are so competitive that it was a fair trade.
